The left side of the table holds the laptop at a convenient height and tilt, and the right side holds my external hard drive on a level surface. I didn't bother to use the provided wheels, so the thing's super-stable. The smart design of the base allows you to put the table's base under your chair from the left or right side, so the laptop table extends over your chair's arm. The whole thing is light enough that you can simply rotate the table & laptop over the chair, or away, as desired. The slight swivel mentioned by the negative reviewer is due to the spring-loaded height adjuster pin's engagement in the vertical adjustment holes. It's not designed to be perfectly tight, and it doesn't detract from the table's use. The tilt mechanism is substantial and works fine, but you do have to apply some strength to properly tighten it. I use it at it's lowest height setting, but I did drill a new hole below...
